Three tiers of software development
Somewhere in your business there is a spreadsheet doing a job it was never meant to do. Someone rekeys the same figures every Monday, a paper form gets carried between two buildings, and the one person who understands the macro is on leave. It works, mostly, until it doesn't — and the cost is invisible because it is spread across everybody's week.
Basic software development is the smallest useful fix. We build a single-purpose tool that does one job well: a form that captures clean data, a calculator that applies your rules consistently, a small internal app that replaces the shared spreadsheet. Short scope, short build, and no obligation to buy a system you do not need yet.
Scale and scope. Basic development builds one tool for one job with a small user group. Custom Business Software is a multi-user system with roles, workflow across teams and integrations into your other software. If more than one department depends on it, you are in the next tier.
Yes, and that is the usual path. We build on standard frameworks and databases rather than throwaway scripts, so a tool that proves its worth can be extended into a full system without starting again. Nothing about this tier locks you out of the next one.
Then buy it, and we will say so. Custom software earns its place when your process is genuinely unusual or the off-the-shelf options force you to change how you work. We would rather point you at a good product than build a worse copy of it.
Describe the spreadsheet, the form or the routine that keeps going wrong. We will tell you whether a small tool fixes it, and roughly what that takes.
